Machine vision inspection is fast becoming a de-facto requirement as end users demand for quality products of stringent standards. As a result, there is a need for machine vision solutions to be incorporated as part of the product process line or as standalone equipment to ensure repeatable and accurate checks.
The Group formulates proprietary machine vision solutions through the combination of its in-house intelligent software algorithm, optics, digital cameras and programmable lighting systems. With more than 100 patents and 200 engineers, the Group invests heavily in the research and development in this area, to be well equipped to response to challenges posed by the rapid evolving technology in this field.
The Group adapts and applies creative use of its machine vision technology to identify cosmetic defects for semiconductor chips. Inspection for cosmetic defects requires the application to pick up surface defects such as micro void, crack, scratches, contamination and surface imperfections.
Different illumination and optics techniques help creates different inspection options. For instance, the "On-The-Fly" inspection engine combines high-speed strobe inspection with laser-based lighting to perform 2D and 3D inspection while devices are in motion.
